Greetings from New York

  • New York Community

    • Address: 6114 Dry Harbor Road, Middle Village, NY 11379
    • Brief Info: Currently, we are three sisters in the community. Sr. Marides Santos- VIVAT International office, Rosa Da Costa- Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Queens village, Ancy Jacob- Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens.

Sr Ancy Jacob, SSpS serves at the Mission Office of Catholic Charities in Brooklyn and Queens, supporting two key ministry areas, the Witness of Mercy and the Vincentian Outreach Coordinator.

As Witness of Mercy, the coordinator offers training and resources for parish social ministry staff and parishioners, educates them in Catholic social teaching, and connects them with Catholic Charities for appropriate referrals. This role also provides consultation and support to strengthen and enhance parish ministries.

As a Vincentian, the coordinator assists parishes in addressing complex community cases by providing consultation, referrals, case management, and limited emergency assistance, including food support. The role also includes data entry for day-to-day immigration services required for city-funded grants, as well as quarterly and annual reporting.

Sr. Rosa Da Costa manages the Food Pantry at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Queens Village, NY, and happily offer ESL classes for adult learners eager to improve their English skills. On June 18, 2025, she began her new role as the director of this Parish Outreach Ministry, continuing the amazing work of my predecessor. From the start, the Pastor, Parish staff, Volunteers, and Parishioners have been so warm and supportive, making her feel genuinely at home.

The Parish Food Pantry Ministry genuinely cares about supporting our community members who are facing food insecurity. Working hand in hand with the Food Bank of New York City, the pantry provides reliable access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food for individuals and families in need—especially immigrants, low-income households, and anyone experiencing financial hardship. We’re all in this together to ensure everyone has a nourishing and comforting resource just when they need it most.
